Data Engineer - Contract
**This position offers a 6-month contract opportunity with our client, and it is entirely remote. Candidates must have the eligibility to work in the US without the need for sponsorship.**
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Database Engineer to join our client’s team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in data migration projects, working collaboratively with internal teams and clients to analyze, map, and migrate data to meet business requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in T-SQL, experience in data modeling and migration, and the ability to work independently while maintaining clear and consistent communication. Responsibilities
Collaborate with partners, internal teams, and clients to ensure data migration projects stay on track
Lead data modeling efforts, working with limited guidance to uncover and map database structures
Analyze legacy data and ensure it aligns with the desired state, identifying and addressing issues such as data type mismatches or length discrepancies
Develop and execute plans for migrating data from legacy systems to Dynamics CE or other platforms
Translate business requirements into detailed data migration specifications and effort estimates
Organize and maintain planning documentation for all data migration activities
Take ownership of tasks and drive them to completion with minimal supervision
Communicate effectively and frequently with team members and clients to ensure alignment and progress
Requirements
7–10 years of experience in data migration and data modeling, including working with legacy systems
Strong T-SQL skills with 7–10 years of hands-on experience
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess business requirements and translate them into actionable data migration steps
Ability to identify and call out data quality issues and provide recommendations
Proven ability to organize and document complex planning processes
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with comfort working collaboratively with clients and internal teams
Ability to work U.S. business hours (ideally CST or EST)
Strong work ethic and ability to take ownership of tasks
Preferred Skills
Experience with MS Azure Data Factory (ADF)
Experience migrating data from F&E and CRM systems to Dynamics CE
